Ebony Rowe grabs fifth TSWA honor of the season

Junior averaged 17.5 points and 12.5 rebounds in two games

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Middle Tennessee's Ebony Rowe earned Tennessee Sports Writers Association Women's Basketball Player of the Week accolades for the fifth time this season after posting her 12th and 13th double-doubles of the season in a pair of wins last week for the Blue Raiders.

The Lexington, Ky., native averaged 17.5 points and 12.5 rebounds in the two outings. She made 9-of-13 shots and connected on 4-of-6 free throws, scoring 22 points and grabbing 14 rebounds at North Texas. Rowe followed that with 13 points and 12 boards along with four assists, two steals and two blocks against rival Western Kentucky, giving the Blue Raiders a two-game lead in the Sun Belt Conference East Division.

She scored in double figures for the 27th and 28th consecutive games and registered her 44th and 45th career double-doubles in the contests. This season, the junior leads the squad with 21.3 points, ranking 10th in the NCAA. Her 11.2 rebounds per game is currently tied for 16th nationally.

Rowe's five time selection is the most of any student-athlete in the state.The TSWA weekly honor encompasses all the colleges and universities in the state, including Memphis, Tennessee and Vanderbilt. 

Middle Tennessee plays at FIU on Thursday, Jan. 31 and Florida Atlantic on Saturday, Feb. 2.
