Women's golf wraps up action in spring's first tournament
Blue Raiders finish 11th at Hurricane Invitational
February 5, 2013 · @MTAthleticsCORAL GABLES, Fla. - The Blue Raider women's golf team finished the final round of the Hurricane Invitational at Deering Bay Yacht and Country Club on Tuesday afternoon. Middle Tennessee placed 11th with a 54-hole total of 942 in a field that features five top-60 teams.
Second-round play also concluded Tuesday morning after it was suspended yesterday due to darkness.
No. 23 Baylor finished in first place with a 54-hole total of 883 on the par-71 course. No. 48 Texas State finished second with a score of 887, while Miami rounded out the top three with a score 898. Oklahoma State's Kelsey Vines paced the field in individual action with a four-under 209.
Senior Olivia Love finished tied for 24th and led the Blue Raiders with a composite score of 229 (75-77-77). Avery George was not far behind with a score 231 (75-77-79), tying for 29th place.
Allie Knight finished tied for 52nd with a score of 237 (76-82-79) and Emily Williams was tied for 68th with a score of 245 (79-80-86). Senior Ashley Haggard rounded out the Blue Raiders with a score of 252 (80-86-86) and a 78th place finish.
The Blue Raiders will get back to practice in preparation for their upcoming tournament, the Jim West Challenge, February 17-18. The event will take place at Vaaler Creek Golf Club located in Blanco, Texas.
