MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - In the final tune-up before the Sun Belt Championships, Middle Tennessee's track and field squads won 13 titles at the Valentine Invitational on Saturday inside the Murphy Center.

Cordairo Golden won the men's high jump and triple jump, while taking second in the long jump. Golden hit marks of 1.93 meters and 15.50 meters in the high and triple jumps, respectively. He has now broke the 50 foot mark twice this season in the men's triple jump.

Rosina Amenebede won her fourth long jump competition of the indoor season with a leap of 6.00 meters (19-8.25 feet).

In the women's triple jump, France Makabu jumped a season-long distance of 12.72 meters for her second win of the season.

Shadrack Matelong, competing in just his second collegiate meet, continued to impress by winning the mile run in 4:13.75. As of last week, that time would qualify Matelong third in the Sun Belt.

Christal Wilson and India Hammond were first and second in both the qualifying and final rounds of the women's 55 meter hurdles. Wilson had times of 7.99 and 7.96, respectively to win the event while Hammond had identical times of 8.14 seconds

Amber Jackson (2:16.79) and Eluid Rutto (1:53.81) each won their respective 800 meter races, while MT grabbed the first four places in the men's 200 meters. Andre Hamilton (21.81), Steven Palmer (21.88), Demetrius Shelton (22.01) and Kendall Bacchus (22.15) all set personal records in the race.

The Blue Raiders are off next weekend before traveling to Jonesboro, Ark., for the two-day SBC Championship meet, scheduled for Feb. 23-24.
