Blue Raiders 0-2 on first day of Georgia Softball Classic
Dukes blasts two home runs in Game 1 loss

ATHENS, Ga. - Middle Tennessee's 2013 campaign got off to a rough start on Friday, as it lost to Campbell, 10-2, and Northwester, 8-1 on Day 1 of the Georgia Softball Classic.
In the first game, the Blue Raiders (0-2) gave up four runs in the top of the first and never recovered, hitting just .143 as a team against Campbell (5-0).
Shelby Stinnett (0-1) started the game, but threw just two innings after giving up six runs (five unearned). Ashley Stassin and Caitlin McClure combined to throw the final four innings. Stassin allowed five hits and four runs and McClure struck out one.
Laura Dukes was a bright spot in Game 1, hitting two home runs in her two plate appearances, while Kayla Toney had the teams only other hit, a triple in the bottom of the first. Toney was thrown out at the plate later in the inning.
In the second game, Kristi Marquez was 3-for-3 at the plate, and drove in Nina Dever for MT's lone run.
Jordyn Fisherback (0-1) took the loss, giving up seven runs on 10 hits in five innings pitched. McClure threw the final two innings and allowed one run on one hit.
With two outs in the bottom of the first, Dever singled to center field and moved to second after Dukes drew a walk. Marquez then singled down the left field line, pushing Dever across the plate.
