ATHENS, Ga. - Middle Tennessee dropped games to No. 13 Georgia and Northwestern on Saturday at the Georgia Softball Classic

No. 13 Georgia (7-2) defeated MT, 13-1, while the Blue Raiders (0-4) fell to Northwestern (2-5), 5-1.

MT's Game 1 loss was plagued by four errors, and only five of Georgia's 13 runs were earned.  Kailey McDougald took the loss after she walked the first three batters she faced and was responsible for three runs (one earned).

The Blue Raiders were able to threaten in the first inning, as lead-off hitter Kayla Toney was hit by a pitch, and moved to second when Laura Dukes worked a two-out walk.  Katie Brown, however, grounded to the pitcher to end the inning.

In the fourth inning, Mitchell reached first on a fielder's choice, then scored when Samantha Nieves blasted a two-out double to right field.

Georgia's Morgan Montemayor picked up the win after throwing four innings and striking out two.

Against Northwestern, the Blue Raiders displayed better defense, but ultimately fell when they again failed to muster more than one run.

Jordyn Fisherback threw five innings in the game, but dropped to 0-2 after giving up five runs (all earned) on 11 hits.  Fisherback also struck out four batters.

In the top of the second, MT loaded the bases after Nieves singled and Juli Layne and Nina Davenport walked, but were unable to score when Nieves was thrown out at home on a fielder's choice.

MT would score in the sixth, but it was too-little, too-late, against NU's Meghan Lamberth (1-2).  Kristi Marquez led off the sixth inning with a triple to center field and scored on Katie Brown's first collegiate RBI.

The Blue Raiders will look for their first win of the season tomorrow in the final game of the Georgia Softball Classic.  They will face the Bulldogs at 12:30 p.m.  For and up-to-date schedule and live stats, please visit the tournament page here.
