Raiders open golf season at Mobile Bay Intercollegiate today
Second round called for darkness
February 18, 2013 · @MTAthleticsMOBILE, Ala. - The Middle Tennessee men's golf team opened its spring season on Monday at the Mobile Bay Intercollegiate. The Blue Raiders shot a 311 on the par-72 7,212-yard Magnolia Grove Crossings Golf Course in round one under windy and tough playing conditions.
The second round was not completed due to darkness.
Auburn grabbed the first round lead with a 285 followed by Illinois in second with a 290 and Memphis third with a 292. LSU was fourth after registering a 295 and Mississippi State rounded out the top five at 300. The Blue Raiders were 16th.
Payne Denman led the Blue Raiders with a 76 and is tied for 32nd overall while Lucas Armstrong is tied for 42nd after posting a 77.
Andrew Cho carded a 79 as did Sam Thompson. Both players are tied for 58th. Jordan Jennings completed the scoring with an 83.
The second round will be completed in the morning before final round action gets underway.
