NEW ORLEANS - Middle Tennessee's Ben Davis was named the Sun Belt Conference Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week for his performances against Northwestern and North Carolina State, the conference office announced Wednesday.
Davis, a native of London, England, defeated two ITA ranked opponents this week on his way to a perfect 2-0 singles record and helping MT pick up a key win over No. 34 North Carolina State. The junior topped Northwestern's Spencer Wolf (No. 114), 6-4, 7-5, and North Carolina State's 125-ranked Austin Powell, 7-6 (7-4), 6-2.
Additionally, Davis and his partner Victor Cornea defeated the Wolfpack pair of Powell and Beck Bond, 8-2. The duo will look to stay hot this weekend as the Blue Raiders host Texas-San Antonio on Friday before traveling to Mississippi State on Sunday.
This is Davis' seventh SBC Athlete of the Week award.
