MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - The Middle Tennessee baseball team is set to welcome Louisiana to Reese Smith Jr. Field for a three-game Sun Belt series this weekend. The series opens Friday at 6 p.m. CT.

The Blue Raiders are fresh off a 4-1 win over visiting No. 2 Vanderbilt on Wednesday night. Jordan Cooper pitched 4.2 innings of shutout baseball as the pitching staff gave up just one unearned run thanks in large part to stellar defensive play. Trent Miller went 2-for-4 at the plate with two RBI and one run, while shortstop Ryan Ford went 3-for-4 and crossed the plate once.

MT (12-10, 0-3 SBC) snapped its five-game losing streak and will look to begin a new winning streak when Louisiana comes to Murfreesboro this weekend.

Louisiana currently leads the all-time series between the two schools, 36-26. MT went 1-2 against the Ragin' Cajuns a year ago, dropping a doubleheader in their final matchup.

Senior pitcher Hunter Adkins (3-2) gets the nod for the opener and will look to improve on his last outing where he gave up five runs on five hits in six innings pitched. Adkins currently leads the team in strikeouts with 23.

Johnathan Frebis (2-2) heads to the hill for game two of the series and will also be looking to get back on track after a tough outing against WKU over the weekend. Frebis went 4.2 innings giving up four hits and four runs while striking out two.

The lefty Zac Curtis (3-2) remains the Sunday starter and will take the mound in the final game of the series. His last time out, Curtis went 3.1 innings giving up six runs on six hits at WKU.

Ryan Ford has been a force for the Blue Raiders lately both at the plate and defensively in the field. Ford is currently batting a team-best .344 for the year with eight doubles and 12 RBI. He is also a key reason MT has turned a conference-best 24 double plays this year.

Louisiana (17-3, 3-0 SBC) is off to a great start this season both in and out of conference. The Ragin' Cajuns are coming off an 11-6 victory over Southern University on top of a series sweep in the conference opener against ULM over the weekend.

Louisiana will start Ryan Wilson (2-1) on Friday. Wilson brings a 2.00 ERA into this game and has already pitched a complete game once this year.

Austin Robichaux (3-0) and Cody Boutte (4-0) will start the second and third game, respectively. Boutte leads the team with 21 strikeouts and both have pitched 27.2 innings this year.

Third baseman Tyler Girouard is the driving force at the plate for the Ragin' Cajuns. Girouard is batting .444 (20-for-45) this year and has belted three home runs to go with 13 RBI.

Saturday's game features an Easter egg hunt prior to the game beginning at 2 p.m. Registration is required by calling 615-898-5135. Tickets are only $4.

Sunday is Kids Day at the park. All children 12 and under receive free admission.
