CHICAGO - Middle Tennessee women's basketball senior Kortni Jones was announced as a three-point contestant for the 25th annual State Farm College Slam Dunk & 3-Point Championships on Wednesday. The event will be Thursday, April 4 at 6 p.m. CT inside Georgia Tech's McCamish Pavilion and televised live on ESPN.

Jones will compete in the State Farm Women's 3-Point Championship. She is the all-time 3-point leader for MT women's basketball, draining 259 treys in her four-year career. She also set the school's single-season mark of 115 in 2011-12, which ranked 10th all-time in NCAA history.

A two-time All-Sun Belt First Team selection, Jones averaged 16.4 points per game en route to a 2013 NCAA Tournament appearance for the Blue Raiders. A 5-foot-9-inch guard, Jones led the Sun Belt Conference with 4.5 assists and 2.6 3-pointers per game this season. The Oak Ridge native finished her career with 1,390 points and dished out 483 assists, which ranked second all-time at Middle Tennessee. Jones logged over 3,835 minutes in her career and played in 127 career games. She also was named the 2013 Sun Belt Tournament MVP for the Blue Raiders' title run.

"It's a great opportunity not just for me, but for the program and the university," said Jones. "It just goes to show how great of a system we have here at Middle Tennessee. I was able to showcase my 3-point shooting skills the last four years and it placed me in a great position to be selected for this contest. I'm extremely excited and ready to compete."

Her selection is the first for a MT women's basketball player and the second Blue Raider chosen to participate. Men's basketball's John 'Helicopter' Humphrey participated in the 2003 dunk contest.

"I think it's exciting for the program because Kortni is one of the better 3-point shooters in the country," noted head coach Rick Insell. "We've been known through the years of having great 3-point shooters. For Kortni to be chosen, that's an honor for our program and an honor for her. I am proud for her. There's no doubt she'll represent Middle Tennessee with class and have a chance to win the contest."
