Blue Raiders travel to ULM for three-game series

MT looks to continue winning ways

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Coming off their first doubleheader sweep of the season, the Blue Raider softball team heads for Monroe, La. this weekend for a three-game conference series with ULM.

The teams will square off in a doubleheader on Friday, March 30, at 4 and 6 p.m., and close out the series on Saturday with a single game at 1 p.m.

MT (4-27, 1-7 SBC) doubled its win total on Wednesday with 7-5 and 3-2 victories over Austin Peay at home.

ULM(14-17, 1-5 SBC) last played March 23-24 in a three-game series with Troy. The Warhawks dropped 2-of-3, but picked up a 7-4 victory in the finale.

The Blue Raiders will look to starting pitchers Caitlin McClure and Jordyn Fisherback to continue their recent hot play. McClure pitched well in Game 1 against Austin Peay, allowing just two earned runs and scattering hits throughout her five innings. Fisherback leads the team with three wins, and threw a complete Game 2 against Austin Peay after earning her first save in Game 1.

At the plate, Nina Dever has been on a tear of late, hitting .412 over the past five games with two doubles and a .529 slugging percentage. Samantha Nieves had an impressive six RBI with a .294 batting average during that span.

ULM is led by Janel Salanoa, who is hitting .354 with six doubles and three home runs on the year. Additionally, she leads the team with 15 walks, and has driven in 12 runs. Mackenzie Miller and Haley McCall have started all 31 games for the Warhawks, and each has two triples. Miller also has seven triples, while McCall is hitting .289.
