MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Middle Tennessee softball will battle Sun Belt Conference rival WKU on Wednesday in a single game, scheduled for 5 p.m.

MT (2-29, 1-9 SBC) will look to take down the first-place Hilltoppers (19-11, 8-3 SBC) and snap a two-game losing streak in the series.

Over the 46 total games played between the two teams, both squads have picked up 23 victories, though WKU has won four of the last five. MT, however, took the series, 2-1, in 2010.

Leading the Blue Raiders offensively is Laura Dukes, who is hitting .308 (24-for-78) with a team-best seven home runs and 21 walks. She has 14 RBI on the season and a .628 slugging percentage.

Samantha Nieves is second on the team with a .293 batting average, but has 27 hits, including seven doubles and four home runs. Her 14 RBI is tied with Dukes for the team-lead.

WKU has three players hitting above the .300 mark, and has 206 hits for the season. Preslie Cruce has started all 30 games for the Hilltoppers, and leads with 34 hits, including nine doubles, and a .382 batting average. Amanda Thomas has eight home runs on the year to accompany her 18 walks.

Jordyn Fisherback leads the team in nearly every pitching category, including wins (three), innings pitched (99) and strikeouts (60), while Caitlin McClure has found her rhythm in the circle over the past six games, leading the team with a 2.95 ERA in 21.1 innings pitched in that span. Additionally, she has struck out eight batters and allowed just nine runs in five appearances (four starts).

WKU's Emily Rousseau has a 2.16 ERA on the season, and will likely appear against the Blue Raiders. She has struck out 117 batters this season and allowed just 20 walks.

Fans are encouraged to wear black to support the Blue Raiders in the "Black-out WKU" themed game, which will be broadcast live by Middle Tennessee's student-run cable television network, MT10. Games will be shown locally on Comcast channel 10, and on channel 99 for AT&T U-verse.
