NEW ORLEANS - Middle Tennesse's Christoph Lang was named the Sun Belt Male Tennis Athlete of the Week for his performance at the MT Shootout, March 30-31.

Lang, a Vienna, Austria product, registered a big week for the Blue Raiders, going 3-0 in singles to play help Middle Tennessee take first place in the MT Shootout over the weekend. Lang set the tone for MT in the first round against DePaul, winning the first singles point by defeating Mathias Hambach, 6-3, 7-5.

From there, Lang continued his hot play in the second round with a 6-2, 6-2, match-clinching victory over South Alabama's Gerhar Gruindelingh. With the Blue Raiders down 2-0 in the championship round, Lang defeated Georgia State's Thomas Cook, 6-3, 4-6, 6-4, to start an MT comeback that brought home the title.

Lang is the third Blue Raider to win SBC Athlete of the Week honors on the men's side as Ben Davis earned the nod on Feb. 20, and Victor Cornea earned the honor on March 13.

The team will be back in action on Saturday, April 6, as they host Southern Mississippi and Morehead State.
