NEW ORLEANS - Middle Tennesse's Eliud Rutto was named the Sun Belt Conference Male Track Athlete of the Week of April 3 after his school-record breaking performance in the 800 meters at the Yellow Jacket Invitational in Atlanta, Ga., this weekend.

Rutto ran a time of 1:49.13 in the 800 meter race, breaking the previous school record of 1:49.48, set by Festus Chemoai in 2009.

Rutto's second event of the day put him on the men's 4x400 meter relay team, where the foursome took second in 3:08.91, less than a half-second behind Alabama's first-place squad.

The Blue Raiders are on the road next weekend, April 5-6, for the Tiger Track Classic in Auburn, Ala.
