Raiders opens final home series this weekend

Middle Tennessee women's tennis begins the final home portion of the schedule with matches against No. 38 Tulane and Arkansas State this weekend. On Friday, the Raiders play the Green Wave in a 2 p.m. contest and host the Red Wolves on Senior Day match set for Noon on Sunday.
The Blue Raiders (8-8) have won four out of the last six matches including a big 4-3 victory against ULM last Saturday. Junior Flavia Nagayama leads the Raiders with a 12-4 mark in singles action and has won two consecutive contests.
Freshman Irina Constantinide recently moved to the No. 1 position and holds a 3-1 mark since moving to the top slot. Overall, Constantinide is 9-5 during singles play this season.
Tulane (13-6) enters the weekend having won eight out of the last nine matches with its only loss to No. 47 Virginia. The Green Wave are 38th nationally in the latest ITA poll. TU is led by Klara Vyskocilova who is ranked 66th nationally and owns a 16-7 mark in duals action. Caroline Magnusson and partner Caroline Thornton lead the Green Wave with 14 doubles victories. Tulane owns a 2-1 record against the Raiders with its most recent victory coming last season in a 6-1 decision in New Orleans.
Arkansas State (6-7) has won three out of its last four matches. The Red Wolves are coming off a 5-2 win at Nicholls State last Saturday. Tamara Slijepcevic was named the Sun Belt Athlete of the Week after picking up a pair of wins at the No. 1 position over Louisiana and Nicholls State. Middle Tennessee and ASU meet for the 16th time on Sunday with the Raiders holding a 9-6 edge in the all-time series. Prior to the match, the MT Athletic department will recognize seniors Carla Nava and Yuiri Nomoto.
