MT welcomes Samford for final home match

The home schedule comes to a close for Middle Tennessee women's tennis on Wednesday, April 10 as the Blue Raiders host Samford in a 2 p.m. match at the Buck Bouldin Tennis Complex.
MT (9-9) is coming off a 6-1 victory over Arkansas State on Sunday. The Raiders won the doubles point and collected five singles wins to snatch their third decision over a Sun Belt opponent.
Senior Carla Nava earned her third consecutive victory and is an unblemished 10-0 against while in the five position. Leading the Raiders with 13 wins is Flavia Nagayama. The Brazil product holds a 12-5 mark at the No. 3 position.
Samford (8-12) enters Wednesday's action with a two-match losing skid. Most recently, the Bulldogs fell short, 5-2, at Georgia Southern. SU is 3-6 in Southern League action. Emily Mallory leads Samford with a 12-6 record, primarily playing in the No. 5 position.
The Raiders and Bulldogs meet for the seventh time with the series tied at three. Last season, MT dropped a 4-3 heartbreaker at Samford on Jan. 27, 2012.
"We are excited to close out our home season against Samford," said head coach Shelley Godwin. "They are a well coached, quality team. It should be a great match to help prepare us for the final stretch of the season."
