NEW ORLEANS - Middle Tennessee's Ettore Zito was named the Sun Belt Male Tennis Athlete of the Week for April 15-21, as announced by the league office Monday.

Zito, a native of Siracusa, Sicily, Italy, went 4-0 in singles play over the past two weeks, picking up key wins in No. 1 and 3 Flights.

The sophomore defeated Southern Miss. Vasco Valverde, 6-3, 6-2, and Morehead State's Nathan Martin, 6-0, 6-1, on Saturday, April 6 before closing out the regular season with a strong showing in Orlando, Fla. Zito knocked off Amar Hromic of UCF, 6-2, 2-6, 6-0, in the match-clenching point for MT, and defeated No. 50 USF's Ravi Patel in Flight 3 singles by a score of 7-6, 6-3.

Zito became the fourth different MT men's player to earn SBC weekly honors this season, as Ben Davis, Victor Cornea and Christoph Lang earned the nod previously.

The Blue Raiders will compete in the Sun Belt Championships this weekend, April 18-20, in Lafayette, La.
