Raiders earn No. 6 seed for SBC Championship

MT takes on Arkansas State on Thursday at 11:30 a.m.

Middle Tennessee women's tennis earned the No. 6 seed for the Sun Belt Conference Championship and will take on No. 11 Arkansas State in the first round on Thursday, April 18 at 11:30 a.m. at Red Lerille's Athletic Club in Lafayette, La.

The Blue Raiders completed the 2013 season with a 10-11 mark and were 3-4 against SBC competition. Arkansas State and MT met earlier this month with the Raiders dominating the contest, 6-1.

The winner of the first round match will take on No. 3 seed Troy on Friday at 11:30 a.m. Other top seeds include No. 1 North Texas, No. 2 Georgia State and No. 4 South Alabama.

Junior Flavia Nagayama leads the Blue Raiders with a 15-6 record singles record, with 14 of those wins coming at the four spot.

Senior Carla Nava has been strong for MT at the five position, boasting a perfect 11-0 mark. Nayara Moraes has boasted a 12-6 overall record this spring, while true freshman Irina Constantinide has notched 10 wins. In doubles action, Irina Constantine and Moraes have combined for a team-best seven victories.
