Men's Tennis looks for three-peat at Sun Belt Championships

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Middle Tennessee's men's squad heads to Lafayette, La., this weekend, for the Sun Belt Conference Championships, which begin Thursday, April 18 and end on Saturday, April 20.
Middle Tennessee's men's tennis earned the No. 1 seed as the Blue Raiders will chase their third straight SBC title. Head coach Jimmy Borendame is also two-time defending Sun Belt Coach of the Year.
The Blue Raiders (18-7, 2-0 SBC) earned a first-round bye, and will face the winner of No. 4 seed Louisiana and No. 5 seed Florida Atlantic on Friday at 2 p.m. Other top seeds on the men's side are No. 2 South Alabama and No. 3 Georgia State.
Junior Ben Davis leads the Blue Raiders with a 13-9 Flight 1 singles record, while six of the nine Blue Raiders hold winning records in dual singles play. Victor Cornea is 16-8 in singles play this season, while David Fox (18-5) and Ettore Zito (18-6) boast impressive records as well.
Christoph Lang, who took last week off, has played a majority of matches in the No. 2 spot, and holds a 13-9 dual record.
On the doubles side, Davis and Cornea (11-4) are ranked No. 62 in the latest ITA rankings, and will likely serve as the Flight 1 doubles pair. Lang and Fox have paired in Flight 3 doubles, and are 10-2 for the season.
