MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - The Blue Raider Athletic Association (BRAA) began its third annual Signing Day on Wednesday. The event is a two-day blitz of volunteers making phone calls inside the Rose and Emmett Kennon Sports Hall of Fame building to encourage fans to renew or join the BRAA.

Former MT athletes, current athletes and supporters volunteer for the yearly event. These individuals pair into teams and make phone calls with the goal to increase BRAA membership. All proceeds raise finances for the Middle Tennessee Athletic Department.

Among those volunteers taking time of their busy schedule was Murfreesboro City Manager Robert J. Lyons. He made calls for several hours encouraging fellow Blue Raider fans to join or renew their commitment to the BRAA.

"It shows a lot of great Blue Raider pride within the community," said Clint Marks, the Assistant Athletic Director of the BRAA. "This is the third year that we've done this signing day event, but every year we've done a campaign with volunteers. We can't do it without them. Without these volunteers, we couldn't do what we do on a daily basis."

The two-day blitz continues on Thursday. For those interested in joining or renewing their BRAA membership, click here or call 615-898-2210.
