NASHVILLE - Middle Tennessee track and field won four titles and grabbed five runner-up finishes at the Vanderbilt Invitational on Friday and Saturday.

Noah Akwu took second in the men's 200 meter dash on Friday, cruising to a season best time of 21.04, before following it up with a 10.69 100-meter dash time on Saturday, also finishing second. He did, however, earn his share of a title with the men's 4x100 meter relay team. The foursome of Akwu, Demetrius Shelton, Tahir Walsh and Rycine Ellison raced around the track in 41.14 to beat the competition.

In the men's 400 meters, Emmanuel Tugumisirze turned in a time of 45.90, besting the nearest competitor by a full eight tenths of a second for the crown.

Cordairo Golden and Ann Dudley had an impressive Day 2, as each won their respective specialties - the triple and high jumps. Golden hit a mark of 15.56 meters in the triple jump, while Dudley just 1.79 meters for the high jump title.

Silas Taiget was runner-up in the men's 5,000 meters. The lone Blue Raider in the event fought off stiff competition to finish in 14:41.47.

Other female jumpers to find success were India Hammond and France Makabu, who each took second in their events. Hammond's mark of 5.53 meters in the long jump and Makabu's distance of 12.57 in the triple jump earned them silver positions.

Middle Tennessee is back in competition next weekend, April 25-27, for the Penn Relays in Philadelphia, Pa. The Blue Raiders will also send athletes to the Troy Invitational in Troy, Ala., on April 27.
