MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - The Blue Raider track and field squads will send athletes to the Penn Relays and the Troy Invitational this weekend, looking to prepare for the Sun Belt Championships in the last regular season meets of the year.

The Penn Relays, held in Philadelphia, Penn., will begin Thursday, April 25 and run through Saturday, April 27, while the Troy Invitational, held in Troy, Ala., will take place on Saturday.

Ann Dudley (High Jump), Cordairo Golden and France Makabu (Triple Jump) will be MT's lone field athletes at the Penn Relays, while the Blue Raiders will send five male athletes to compete in the 4x200 and 4x400 meter relays. Those lineups are as follows:

4x400 - Emmanuel Tugumisirize, Andre Hamilton, Eliud Rutto and Noah Akwu

4x200 -Tugumisirize, Hamilton, Tahir Walsh and Awku

"Ann is the defending champion in the high jump so she'll have a good opportunity there," head coach Dean Hayes said. "Cordairo Golden and France Makabu have a chance to do well in the triple jump as well.

"As for the relays, our men's 4x400 team has done very well this year, so hopefully we'll have a chance to at least make the finals and place well in the 4x400 and the 4x200. We only get to run the 4x200 once a year, which is at the Penn Relays. Since we've won that race a couple times, it's kind of our reputation to be in the 4x200."

At the Troy Invitational, the Blue Raiders will look at the meet as one final tune-up prior to the SBC Championships, held May 10-12 in Miami, Fla.

"The rest of the team will go to Troy, and it's a matter of them getting things ready for the Sun Belt," Hayes said. "That's just a prep meet for the Sun Belt."
