MT's Tugumisirize grabs seventh at World University Games

KAZAN, Russia - Middle Tennessee senior Emmanuel Tugumisirize placed seventh in the 400-meter run at the World University Games on Tuesday.
The Uganda native ran 46.63 seconds edging out Canada's Tyler Daniel Harper. Tugumisirize was the only runner from the continent of Africa to earn a spot in the finals. He finished seventh out of 45 competitors in the event. Russia's Vladimir Karsnov won the gold medal with a time of 45.49.
Tugumisirize and fellow Blue Raider freshman Geoffrey Akena represent Uganda in the 4x100-meter relay first round on Thursday. The event is set for 7:00 p.m. MSK/10 a.m. CT. Results of the meet can be found at kazan2013.ru/en.
