MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Middle Tennessee women's basketball head coach Rick Insell announced the addition of Blue Raider alum Richard Lowe as Director of Operations.

Lowe, a 2011 graduate, completed his degree in Electronic Media Journalism at Middle Tennessee. As Director of Operations, Lowe will coordinate all student-athletes' academic schedules, team travel and assist with promotional efforts for MT women's basketball.

Most recently, Lowe served as head football coach of the Riverwood Junior Raiders in Sandy Springs, Ga. He also spent time as substitute teacher at Douglas County Schools (GA) and served as a youth basketball coach. Additionally, Lowe served as PA announcer for Spelman College.

During his time as a student at Middle Tennessee, the Atlanta native worked in a variety of capacities. Lowe spent time as the sports editor of the student newspaper Sidelines and served as sports director and producer for WMTS 88.3.

In addition to his radio and journalism experience, Lowe was general manager and sports director for Middle Tennessee Television. During his tenure, he created and produced the Rick Insell Coaches' Show.

"We were looking for someone to help take another step in our social media efforts," noted Insell. "We wanted someone that had extensive experience like Richard's. I also wanted someone that had a passion for the Blue Raider basketball program and Richard Lowe has shown that. This is a great hire and I've already seen a difference. I felt like we need someone who had great organization and was able to continue to elevate our program through outlets such as social media."

While earning a degree in Electronic Media Journalism, Lowe earned minors in speech & theater and athletic coaching.
