IRVING, Texas - Middle Tennessee's Kate Loye was named to the Conference USA Soccer Preseason Players to Watch list as released by the league office on Tuesday afternoon.

The sophomore was voted 2012 Sun Belt Freshman of the Year by the league's coaches and earned All-Sun Belt first team honors. A product of Hamilton, New Zealand, Loye recorded seven goals and six assists in just 17 games.

Of Loye's 50 shots, 22 were on goal (.440). Loye started 17 games for the Blue Raiders and played a complete match 10 times. She arrived to campus late in the 2012 season due to representing New Zealand in the U-20 World Cup.

Colorado College was picked as the preseason favorite through a vote of the league coaches. Last season, the Tigers clinched a share of the C-USA regular season title and earned an at-large berth to the NCAA Tournament. Rice was selected to finish second followed by North Texas. Tulsa and FIU rounded out the top five.

The Blue Raiders open the preseason on Tuesday as all 28 student-athletes reported to campus. The first full practice begins on Wednesday. Middle Tennessee hosts a pair of exhibition matches next weekend with Belmont on Friday, Aug. 16 (7 p.m.) and Martin Methodist on Sunday, Aug. 18 (4 p.m).
