SKILLMAN, N.J. - Blue Raider men's tennis player Yannick Born was named an Intercollegiate Tennis Association Scholar-Athlete for 2013, as announced by the ITA. Born holds a 3.75 cumulative GPA through his sophomore year while studying business administration.
The Hannover, Germany native helped the Blue Raiders reach the championship round of the 2013 SBC Championships, going 2-0 in doubles competition while also clinching a trip to the championship round with a comeback victory to defeat Louisiana in the semifinals. He went 7-6 in the fall and 11-12 in the spring, with wins in the spring season coming against competitors from Virginia Tech, Northwestern and Cal Poly.
On February 10, Born teamed up to knock off the No. 19 doubles team in the nation, Daniel Hoffman and Marc Powers of Yale.
2013 marks the third consecutive year a Blue Raider has earned ITA Scholar-Athlete accolades, with a total of seven awards going out to the Middle Tennessee men's tennis program during that time.
