Blue Raiders Earn ITA Team Accolades

August 7, 2013 ·

SKILLMAN, N.J. - The Middle Tennessee men's tennis program has earned Intercollegiate Tennis Association All-Academic Team honors for the third consecutive year, as announced by the ITA.

The men's tennis team achieved a 3.13 GPA during the year, combining academic excellence with success on the court.

"This is a great academic award for our team to earn for the third consecutive year. Not only have we climbed the national rankings over the past three years but we continue to prove ourselves in the classroom," said head men's tennis coach Jimmy Borendame.

The Blue Raiders advanced to the championship round of the 2013 Sun Belt Conference Championships before falling to eventual champion Georgia State. Middle Tennessee was ranked No. 48 in the nation in the final ITA rankings of the 2013 spring season, knocking off ACC opponents Virginia Tech and North Carolina State along the way.

During the three consecutive years in which the Blue Raiders have earned ITA All-Academic Team Accolades, seven individual awards have been handed out, including Yannick Born this year.
