Women's Tennis adds four for 2013-14 season

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Middle Tennessee head women's tennis coach Shelly Godwin announced the addition of four newcomers this season to compliment five returners from 2012-13. The newcomers include a two-time NAIA National Champion, a former Tennessee Lady Vol, a Swedish club champion, and a previous Quebec Doubles Champion.
"We are excited to welcome Jesse, Amanda, Tiffany and Sarah to Middle Tennessee," said Godwin. "Each of these girls brings international playing experience to the team, which will help us as we continue to move this program forward."
Jesse Grace a native of Johannesburg, South Africa played two seasons for the Tennessee Lady Vols before making the decision to transfer to MT. She was part of two Lady Vols teams that reached the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Prior to her time at Tennessee, Grace was a two-time runner-up in the South Africa Girls Nationals in 2007 and 2010.
Middle Tennessee also welcomes Amanda Manns from Stockholm, Sweden. Manns was a participant at Trollbackens Tennis Club in Stockholm, where she won her doubles class club championships and the mixed doubles twice. In 2012, she and her club team advanced to the Swedish Final Outdoor Championships. Manns advanced into the top ten of the 2013 Masters Championship in Stockholm.
Tiffany William played for the Auburn Montgomery Warhawks in 2012 and 2013. Okpoho-William brings a national championship background to MT, and looks to contribute immediately in singles and doubles. She helped win two NAIA National Championships with the Warhawks and received NAIA first team All-America honors the previous two seasons. While at Auburn Montgomery, Okpoho-William compiled a singles record of 41-6 and a doubles record of 38-13. Okpoho-William hails from London, England.
Sarah Sediri, who hails from Montreal, Quebec, brings her intensity and work ethic to MT, along with a championship pedigree. Sediri won the Quebec Doubles U-16 Championship in 2012 and the Quebec Doubles U-18 Championship in 2013.
The Blue Raiders open the 2013 fall season at the UNLV Invitational Sept. 20-22 in Las Vegas, Nev.
