MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - For the 30th year, the tradition continues as the Middle Tennessee baseball team gears up for the annual John Stanford Grand Slam Fish Fry presented by Nissan of Murfreesboro. The event is scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 9 at 6 p.m. inside the Livestock Center on the campus of Middle Tennessee State University.
"As we approach our 30th year of the Grand Slam Fish Fry, it is time for us to honor the man who started it all," said head coach Jim McGuire. "We have named this annual event after the late Coach John Stanford. His legacy is still a major part of Blue Raider baseball and the athletic department. It is fitting that we continue his legacy for years to come."
In addition to the traditional fried catfish, Cajun gumbo and hot dogs will also be served by the Krewe de Blue. The Russ & Becky Jeffers Country Band will be on hand to entertain the crowd. There will also be sports memorabilia items available for auction.
Tickets are $20 and children under six years old are admitted for free. Tickets are available by purchasing in person at the athletic ticket office located at Gate 1A of Floyd Stadium or calling 615-898-2103.
For more information, please call 615-898-2450. Proceeds from the John Stanford Grand Slam Fish Fry benefit the Blue Raider baseball program.
