MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Middle Tennessee returns to action this weekend with a pair of home contests against Lipscomb and Memphis Friday, Aug. 30 and Sunday, Sept. 1, respectively.

The Blue Raiders will host LU at 7 p.m. Friday and Memphis at 5 p.m. Sunday at the Dean Hayes Track and Soccer Stadium after opening the 2013 campaign on the road at UT Martin Aug. 25 and battling to a 0-0 tie.

MT (0-0-1) did not find the back of the net against UT Martin as the Blue Raiders opened their inaugural season in Conference USA. The Blue Raiders had their chances as they battled down the Skyhawk defense, tallying 17 shots with nine on goal.

Kate Loye and Amalie Anderdal each tallied five shots with Anderdal yielding four on goal. Each will look for retribution this weekend along with the other members of the MT squad.

Soccer vs Lipscomb
The Blue Raiders will open their home slate Friday against the Lipscomb Bisons (1-1-0). MT looks to remain perfect against LU, holding a 5-0 in the all-time series. The last contest came in 2006 as the Blue Raiders won 10-0. MT has outscored Lipscomb 38-1 in the all-time series with the lone LU goal coming in 2002.

Lipscomb opened its season against Western Carolina on Aug. 23, falling 2-0. The Bisons totaled only five shots in its match, 12 less than MT had against UT Martin. LU rebounded against Alabama A&M, picking a 10-0 win Aug. 26 in Huntsville, Ala.

The Bisons return three of their five top scorers and eight of their 11 starters from 2012. Baylee Linnell led the team in scoring last season with four goals and two assists for a team high 10 points, while Molly Bray added four goals for Lipscomb.

The largest loss for LU comes in front of the net as Erin Zerio graduated, leaving big shoes to fill. Zerio started all 17 games in 2012, notching four shutouts with 112 saves. Currently, Lipscomb only has one goalkeeper on its roster for 2013 in freshman Anna Buhigas.

Memphis (2-0-0) will provide a tough challenge for the Blue Raiders on Sunday, facing a squad that brings back nine of its eleven starters from 2012. As Memphis embarks on its journey in the American Athletic Conference, it sees the opportunity to make an impact in its new conference. Memphis opened the 2013 season with a 2-0 win Aug. 23 against Samford, before picking up a 2-1 overtime victory Aug. 25 against Missouri.

The Tiger returners are highlighted by 2012 leading scorer Christabel Oduro, who tallied 13 goals with eight assists. Oduro netted a golden goal in the overtime match against Missouri Aug. 25.

MT last played Memphis in 2012, falling 3-2 to the Tigers. Memphis holds the series lead 3-1.
