Blue Raiders fall to USF 1-0

MT opens USF Soccer Classic against tournament host

TAMPA, Fla. - The Middle Tennessee soccer team (0-2-2) opened the USF Soccer Classic Friday evening with a 1-0 loss to tournament host USF (3-0-2).

The Bulls got on the board first at the end of the opening period as Olivia Chance connected on a pass from Daniela Andrade to give USF a 1-0 lead during the 43rd minute.

Kate Loye led MT with three shots on the night, including one on goal. Grace Summers fired one shot on goal for the Blue Raiders as well, while Emily Hartshorn had one shot.

MT goalkeeper Kelsey Brouwer snagged seven saves with four coming in the second period. Christiane Endler collected two saves for the Bulls to keep MT scoreless.

USF controlled the contest offensively, outshooting the Blue Raiders 17-5 with eight shots on goal. The Blue Raiders had five corner kicks compared to USF's three.

The Blue Raiders wrap up play at the USF Soccer Classic in Tampa, Fla., Sunday, Sept. 8 as they take on UCA at 11 a.m.
