MT's bracket set for 2013 Gulf Coast Showcase

LEXINGTON, Ky. - Middle Tennessee's opponents for the inaugural 2013 Gulf Coast Showcase in Estero, Fla., were released on Friday by the tournament operator bd Global, LLC.
The three-day, eight team tournament is set for Friday, Nov. 29 through Sunday, Dec. 1. Participating teams include Grand Canyon, James Madison, Middle Tennessee, Mississippi State, NC State, Southeastern Louisiana, UCLA and Wright State.
Middle Tennessee opens the Gulf Coast Showcase against Southeastern Louisiana on Friday, Nov. 29. The winner of that contest will take on the winner of the NC State/Wright State matchup, while the losers will square off against each other. Official tip-off times will be announced at a later date. MT and UCLA highlight the women's tournament field. The Bruins were ranked in the Top 25 last season and made an appearance in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. The Blue Raiders, who have won five straight league titles, made a school record fifth consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance and has been in the Big Dance nine out of the last 10 years.
"This is an opportunity for us to play some good basketball programs on a neutral court," said Insell. "It gives our young people a chance to travel. We open up with Southeastern Louisiana and have a chance to potentially play NC State, UCLA and James Madison. I know we will have an opportunity to display our athletes and program on a national platform."
The tournament will be held at Germain Arena in Estero, Fla., which is just south of Fort Myers.
