George leads Blue Raiders in final round

MT finishes fifth at Cardinal Cup

SIMPSONVILLE, Ky. - The Middle Tennessee women's golf team finished fifth at the Cardinal Cup Tuesday, shooting 905 through 54 holes at the par 72 Cardinal Club course.

The Blue Raiders were tied for sixth after the first two rounds of competition, but closed out the two-day tournament with a fifth-place finish, after carding a 302 in the final round.

Tournament host Louisville had two teams competing in the event. The Louisville A team (859) led the 13-team pack, while Kansas (881) took second-place honors and the Louisville B team (893) was third. UT Chattanooga finished fourth with a score of 901.

Avery George paced the MT squad during the third round, posting a 73 for 1-over par. She finished the Cardinal Cup tied for 26th with an overall score of 228. Samantha Gotcher tallied a 78 during the final 18 holes, while Emily Miller shot a 76 in the third round. Gotcher and Miller led the Blue Raiders with overall scores of 226 each to finish tied for 19th.

Emily Williams was the fourth-best finisher for MT, posting a 78 during the third round of play for a 229 overall. Allie Knight turned in a third round score of 75 to total 231 through 54 holes.
Playing as an individual, Natalie Chrisopulos shot an 81 during the final 18 holes for a total score of 238.

The Blue Raiders return to action Oct. 7-8, traveling to Greenville, N.C., to compete in the Lady Pirate Intercollegiate hosted by East Carolina.
