Frebis earns ranking in prestigious Cape Cod League

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Another Middle Tennessee baseball player earned a national ranking on Tuesday. Left-handed pitcher Johnathan Frebis was named the 45th best prospect in the Cape Cod League by national publication Perfect Game.
Frebis, a native of Murfreesboro, held a 2.25 ERA in 12 appearances for the Harwich Mariners. Frebis fanned 36 batters, giving up just 15 hits in 32 innings thrown. His best performance came against Yarmouth-Denis when he held the Red Sox scoreless in 4.1 innings, while striking out five batters.
Frebis was ranked 45th out of 150 prospects by Perfect Game in the Cape Cod League. The league is known as the best among the collegiate baseball wooden bat leagues.
For the Blue Raiders in 2013, Frebis started 14 games on the mound and tied for a team-best five victories. He completed the season with 50 strikeouts in 68 innings of work.
Frebis joins four other Blue Raiders who earned summer league rankings: Michael Adkins (17th - Valley League), Zac Curtis (3rd - Texas Collegiate League), Trent Miller (29th - Coastal Plain League) and Heath Slatton (17th - Great Lakes League).
