Raiders tied for 8th after first round at Daufuskie Island

DAUFUSKIE ISLAND, SC - Middle Tennessee opened with a 299 on day one of the Rees Jones Invitational to stand in a tie for eighth place. The 54-hole event is being held at Haig Point Club on the Rees Jones Signature Course.

South Florida grabbed the overall lead with a 286 on Sunday while Kennesaw State registered a 290 for second. Charlotte and Liberty are tied for third with UNC Wilmington rounding out the top five.

Junior Brett Patterson led the way for the Blue Raiders with a one-over par 73 which placed him in a tie for 16th.

Junior Payne Denman and senior Lucas Armstrong both carded 74s and are tied for 23rd, while Jordan Jennings had a 78 and is tied for 47th.

Andrew Cho is in 69th place after shooting an 84.

The second round will get underway on Monday morning with the final round scheduled for Tuesday.
