MT concludes Dale Short Shootout against Lipscomb

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - The Middle Tennessee men's tennis team concluded the Dale Short Shootout on Sunday, facing Lipscomb in the final day of action at the Buck Bouldin Tennis Center.
The Blue Raiders took four of the seven matches played on the day, but the Bisons captured two additional matches by default as MT was left shorthanded by injuries.
The Raiders took both of the doubles matches contested on the afternoon, led by Yannick Born and Victor Cornea, who defeated Miguel Cortez and Stuart Tierney, 8-3. Aaron Jumonville and Ettore Zito won the other doubles match, beating David Salazar and Daniel Hernandez, 8-6.
Jumonville and Zito also both won their respective singles matches on the day. Zito knocked off Hernandez in straight sets at No. 2 (6-0, 6-3), while Jumonville remained perfect on the weekend with a win over Cortez at No. 5 (6-1, 6-2).
Cornea fell to Salazar at No. 1 singles (6-2, 6-3), with Christoph Lang (No. 3) and Born (No. 4) also falling in straight sets.
Tierney was named singles champion for the weekend, while UAB's duo of Rafael Rondino and Lucas Dirube garnered doubles champion honors.
The Blue Raiders return to action Sept. 27-29 for the Steve Baras Invitational in Chattanooga, Tenn.
