MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - The Middle Tennessee softball program announces its 2013-14 schedule Tuesday morning.

MT will play a total of eight games in its fall schedule highlighted by Ole Miss and Alabama.

"This fall we are looking forward to playing some Tennessee junior colleges, Ole Miss and Alabama," said Head Coach Jeff Breeden. "Going down to Tuscaloosa will be a good experience for our kids."

After the winter break the Blue Raiders will get right into the mix with four different tournaments to start spring play. MT will play 56 games in the 2014 spring slate, featuring 15 games at home.

MT will open its spring season Feb. 7-9 at the Troy Subway Invitational, playing five separate teams including a night-time battle against Alabama Feb. 8. Alabama finished 2013 ranked No. 9 in the NCAA RPI rankings and No. 10 in both the USA Today/NFCA Coaches Poll and ESPN.com/USA Softball Poll.

The following weekend the Blue Raiders are on the road again competing in the UCF Tournament for another five game set in Orlando, Fla., Feb. 14-16 and then make the trip back to Tennessee to compete in the Frost Classic hosted by Chattanooga Feb. 21-23. MT will again play five schools in the three-day Frost Classic tournament, featuring matchups with Radford, Campbell, Northwestern State, Ohio and Toledo.

The Blue Raiders will get their chance to compete at home against Samford Feb. 25 in a doubleheader before traveling to the Georgia Southern Tournament Feb. 28-March 2, closing out the non-conference tournament slate. The trip to the Peach State gives MT a chance to play Buffalo, Tennessee State, Troy and tournament-host Georgia Southern.

"We are looking forward to being in Conference USA number one," Breeden stated. "Starting off with a challenging tournament schedule, we will face some of the better teams in the country during that period of time."

MT opens conference play with a home matchup against North Texas, playing a doubleheader March 8 with a one-game affair on March 9. After North Texas, the conference schedule does not lighten up as the Blue Raiders then make a trip to Hattiesburg, Miss., to take on Southern Miss for a three-game set.

The Blue Raiders get the chance to break away from the conference grind March 18 to play 2013 National Runner-up Tennessee for a single game matchup in Columbia, Tenn. UT lost the 2013 NCAA Championship series to Oklahoma in two games, finishing 2013 ranked No. 2 in the NCAA RPI, the USA Today/NFCA Coaches and ESPN.com/USA Softball Polls.

"We're looking forward to playing UT on March 18 in Columbia, the Battle of Middle Tennessee" said Breeden.

Middle Tennessee will finish its conference schedule making three more away trips, while hosting three more schools in Murfreesboro. MT will host LA Tech March 22-23 before traveling to Charlotte March 29-30.

On April 2, MT takes on WKU, who finished 2013 26th in the NCAA RPI rankings. The Blue Raiders will host Marshall April 5-6 and then play a neutral site game against Austin Peay April 9.

Middle Tennessee makes a trip to sunny El Paso, Texas to compete against UTEP April 12-13, before playing three non-conference foes in WKU, Chattanooga and UTM.

"We're looking forward to all of our conference series with our new opponents and going out west to UTEP and Tulsa," said Breeden.

After almost two weeks of non-C-USA play, MT travels to Tulsa, Okla., for a weekend series April 26-27. The Blue Raiders add one more non-conference doubleheader set to take place against Belmont on May 1, before closing out regular season and conference play by hosting FAU May 3-4.

The C-USA Tournament is set to take place in Boca Raton, Fla., May 8-10.
