MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Middle Tennessee baseball head coach Jim McGuire and Director of Athletics Chris Massaro announced a challenging and exciting 2014 schedule on Tuesday.
The Blue Raiders open their first season in the Conference USA era with 32 home games, an in-season tournament and hosting four opponents that reached the NCAA Tournament last season.
"We are very excited to again have 32 home games," said McGuire. "I think we have put together a challenging and great schedule for our fans to enjoy. We are playing several teams that reached the NCAA Tournament last season and teams that have been historically successful. I believe the non-conference schedule will help prepare us for a great first season in Conference USA."
The Blue Raiders open the 2014 campaign on the road with a weekend series at Kennesaw State (Feb. 14-16). MT then hosts its first midweek game with Tennessee Tech on Tuesday, Feb. 18.
During the second weekend of the season, Middle Tennessee will join Belmont and Lipscomb in hosting the Mule Mix Classic. The Raiders take on an opponent to be named soon (Feb. 21), Miami Ohio (Feb. 22) and Indiana State (Feb. 23) at Reese Smith Field. The Raiders continue their seven-game homestand with Kent State on Feb. 28 - March 1, followed by NCAA Super Regional participant Vanderbilt on Wednesday, March 5.

Historical baseball power and 2013 Super Regional participant Rice visits Reese Smith Field for a three-game series set for March 28-30. The Blue Raiders host in-state foe Memphis in a midweek series on April 1-2, before playing at Southern Miss (April 4-6) in a C-USA bout.
Middle Tennessee hosts Belmont on April 8 before visiting Tennessee Tech on April 9 and hosting a non-conference slate against Mississippi Valley State (April 11-13).
A tough stretch for the Blue Raiders opens up when MT visits Vanderbilt (April 15), East Carolina (April 17-19) and closes out that road trip at Austin Peay (April 23).
