Barber named TSWA Defensive Player of the Week

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Middle Tennessee linebacker T.T. Barber was named the Tennessee Sports Writers Association (TSWA) Defensive Player of the Week on Tuesday.
Barber registered a career-high 15 tackles at BYU, including nine solo stops. The Colquitt, Ga., native posted two tackles for loss with a sack as well as a forced fumble against the Cougars. The sophomore has reached a career-high in tackles during each of the last three contests.
He has notched a team-best 59 tackles, five tackles for loss, two sacks, two forced fumbles and an interception in five games this season.
The TSWA honor is the second for Barber in his career. He earned defensive honors on Oct. 2, 2012 for his performance at Georgia Tech. Last week, Blue Raiders Reggie Whatley and Dearco Nolan earned weekly accolades from the TSWA.
MT hosts East Carolina this Saturday, Oct. 5 for Homecoming. Kickoff at Floyd Stadium is set for 2:30 p.m. with the game airing on Fox Sports Net.
