Raiders host LA Tech for Think Pink contest

MT continues C-USA play with breast cancer awareness match

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - The Middle Tennessee soccer team is set to continue Conference USA play, hosting Louisiana Tech Sunday, Oct. 13 for MT's Think Pink contest.

The Blue Raiders (5-4-3, 2-1-1 C-USA) returned to their winning ways last week, picking up a 1-0 victory at FAU Oct. 4. MT then battled to a 2-2 draw at Charlotte Oct. 6 in double overtime. Sunday's action marks the first meeting between Middle Tennessee and LA Tech (6-7-1, 1-3-0 C-USA).

This week's opponent LA Tech went 1-1 last week in C-USA play, beating Marshall 2-0 and then falling to FIU 3-2 in overtime. After recording their third C-USA loss last week, the Lady Techsters are the cellar dwellers in the West Division with a 1-3-0 mark in league play.

LA Tech's offense has amassed 24 goals in its 14 games, ranking fourth in C-USA alongside Colorado College. The Lady Techsters rank fifth in the conference statistics, averaging 1.71 goals per game. Kathryn Sloan leads the team with six goals on the season to go along with one assist for a team-best 13 points. She is tied for sixth in the C-USA statistical rankings with 13 points.

MT's Kate Loye also has a team-best six goals on the year, while dishing out three assists. She is tied for fourth in conference in goals scored and is in sole possession of fourth with 15 points.

The win against FAU last week gave MT goalkeeper Kelsey Brouwer her fifth win of the season. She has 13 career victories and she is tied for seventh all-time at Middle Tennessee with Jenny Manis. Brouwer is fourth in C-USA with a 0.82 goals against average, while ranking third in both save percentage (.844) and saves (54).

In conference only play, MT is tied for fifth in points and goals with 14 and five, respectively. Middle Tennessee is also tied for fifth in goals per game, averaging 1.25 per game in C-USA action.
