Hyder's Highlights: Blue-White Series continues Wednesday

Former Blue Raiders return to Murfreesboro

October 22, 2013 · @MTAthletics

This week, student assistant Aaron Hyder reviews the Raiders first two games of the Blue-White World series and talks about the return of Blue Raiders that play professionally.

WORLD SERIES ALL TIED UP

This weekend kicked off the start of the annual Blue/White World Series. Assistant Coach Scott Hall is the manager for Team Blue and Volunteer Assistant Brandon Nolen is managing the White Team.

Team Blue edged out a win in Game 1 of the series by a score of 5-3 (read a recap here). The White Team did not let that affect how they played Sunday afternoon by winning in convincing fashion. Team White took home Game 2 with a 7-2 victory to even the series up at one game apiece (click here for recap).

The team will now take another couple days to prepare for Game 3 which is slated for Wednesday at 3 p.m. Left-hander Brandon Zajack starts for the White team, while righty Garrett Ring gets the nod for Team Blue.  The Raiders will then have one more practice day before wrapping up the series on Friday and Saturday to cap off the fall practice period.

IT'S THAT TIME OF THE YEAR

The weather has drastically changed over the past couple of days. With that being said, this is the time of the year where former Blue Raider players, who play professionally, will start to filter back into Murfreesboro.

They will be at the facilities throughout the rest of the fall working on their game and just catching up with former teammates. These players are great tools for current players to learn and better themselves.

These guys all have tremendous skill sets, hence the reason they are still playing, but not all of it was given to them. Many of these guys have put in countless hours to improve and develop their game to get them where they are. Hopefully, some of their attitudes wear off on our guys and it translates to the fields.
