Raiders host Golden Eagles in Friday night match

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - The Middle Tennessee volleyball team (13-8, 5-2 C-USA) has a quick turnaround from Tuesday night's match vs. Louisville, returning to C-USA play with a Friday night match vs. Southern Miss at Alumni Memorial Gym. The Blue Raiders look to rebound from a three-set loss to the Cardinals on Tuesday, in which sophomore Chelsea Ross led the way with a double-double of 13 kills and 10 digs.

Through 21 matches, Ross leads the Blue Raiders with 3.40 kills per set, while sophomore Shelby Anderton has tallied a team-best 6.35 assists per set. Redshirt-junior Kendall Howard leads MT with 4.13 digs per set, and redshirt-sophomore Tyler Richardson leads the Blue Raiders and all of Conference USA in blocks per set (1.22) and hitting percentage (.440).

Scouting the Southern Miss Golden Eagles
Southern Miss enters Friday night having gone 3-2 in its last five matches, splitting last weekend with a four-set loss at Tulane on Friday and a sweep of Louisiana Tech on Sunday.

Quinci Hayward leads the Golden Eagles with 4.09 kills per set, while Kristen Fleming has tallied a team-leading 10.80 assists per set. Southern Miss has four players averaging at least 2.00 digs per set, led by 4.71 per set from Mary Pursell. Elise Ames leads the Golden Eagles in hitting at .347.

Speaking Statistically
Through Sunday's matches, the Blue Raiders are 82nd in the nation in blocks per set (2.40), with redshirt-sophomore Tyler Richardson 53rd (1.24). Richardson is 12th in the nation in hitting percentage (.434), with both marks leading C-USA. Redshirt-junior Kendall Howard is ninth in Conference USA at 4.19 digs per set, while sophomore Shelby Anderton is fourth in C-USA in aces per set (0.31). Full House
MT had a season-high crowd of 931 at Tuesday night's match vs. Louisville, the most for a regular-season game at AMG since Oct. 20, 2008 vs. Western Kentucky.

Pure Michigan
Redshirt-sophomore Tyler Richardson has turned up the heat entering C-USA play, hitting .490 through MT's first seven conference matches while recording 1.35 blocks per set. On the year, Richardson is hitting .440 with 1.22 blocks per set.

Can't You Dig It?
The Blue Raiders have allowed a conference-best 10.47 digs per set, a mark more than two digs per set better than their nearest competitor (Tulane, 12.71). In C-USA matches, MT has allowed just 9.77 digs per set.

Ross Dials It Up Against Lady Techsters
Sophomore Chelsea Ross had 19 kills in a three-set win at Louisiana Tech (Oct. 18), the most by a C-USA player in a three-set match so far in 2013.
