MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - The Middle Tennessee softball team is set to finish off its 2013 fall schedule Saturday, hosting a pair of games against Trevecca Nazarene at 1 p.m.

The Blue Raiders have an overall record of 2-4 through its fall slate, with wins against Volunteer State Community College and Lipscomb.

MT played two games last Sunday against the Alabama in Tuscaloosa, Ala. The Blue Raiders let the Crimson Tide take the momentum in game one after an offensive onslaught in the third inning.

Caitlin McClure held the Tide scoreless through two before Alabama found its rhythm, showing that Bama had not missed a step from its top-10 2013 spring performance. The Tide tallied 13 hits and 10 runs in the third inning. Shelby Stinnett came in relief to help McClure get out of the third inning, before closing out the game.

MT's largest offensive opportunity came in the fourth inning, when Cheyenne Willis drew a walk. Three batters later Laura Dukes got the free pass, but with two outs a Blue Raider rally was on the ropes. Alabama's pitcher got the next MT batter, ending the threat and the game.

Game two was a much harder battle for Alabama as Stinnett kept the Tide hitless through four innings. The first batter in the fifth inning slapped a single to left, breaking up the no-no.

Alabama continued to push on, loading the bases in the sixth inning, but MT turned a 1-2-3 double play to get out of the inning. In the seventh, MT was not as lucky. The Tide put its first runner on after a walk and advanced her to second on a sacrifice bunt. The next batter hit a single to the outfield, giving Alabama the sweep.

Trevecca Nazarene will feature a team that is 4-2 in its fall slate of games, sweeping Motlow State Community College and Tennessee State. Against Tennessee State the Trojans pitched two shutouts, winning by scores of 1-0 and 3-0. Game one featured a one-hit seven-inning performance by two of TNU's top pitchers in Kelsey Kemp and Haley Fagan.

The Trojans' two losses came against Lipscomb Oct. 9. The Bisons dismantled the TNU pitching staff, sweeping both games by scores of 9-0 and 8-0. Lipscomb totaled 19 hits in the two- game sweep.

This Saturday marks the end of both the Trojans' and Blue Raiders' fall schedules.
