Raiders close fall campaign at Roberta Alison Classic

Two-day tournament held at University of Alabama

The end of the fall season concludes this weekend, Nov. 1-2, for Middle Tennessee Women's Tennis with a visit to the University of Alabama for the the 26th Roberta Alison Fall Classic.

For the third consecutive year, the Raiders trek to Tuscaloosa, Ala., for the three-day tournament. A total of 17 teams are expected to attend including Alabama, Clemson, Tennessee, Vanderbilt and the Blue Raiders.

MT came off a strong performance at the ITA Ohio Valley Regionals in Memphis two weeks ago. Junior Nayara Moraes improved to 10-2 on the season and finished runner-up in the singles backdraw tournament.

Senior Flavia Nagayama holds a 7-3 mark this season, while junior Jesse Grace holds 5-3 ledger. Newcomer Tiffany William has four victories this season, along with sophomore Irina Constantinide.

"This tournament is by far one of the strongest we've played this fall," said head coach Shelley Godwin. "It's a great way for us to close out our fall season and for the team to gain confidence going into the offseason."

This weekend's tournament begins Friday morning with one doubles session and two rounds of singles. Saturday concludes with the final round of singles and two doubles contests. Results of the matches can be found online at GoBlueRaiders.com and RollTide.com.
