Blue Raiders take part in first day of Louisville Invitational

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Two victories from junior Yannick Born highlighted the first day of competition for the Middle Tennessee men's tennis team at the Louisville Invitational on Friday.
Born opened the day by downing Illinois State's Rolando Torrellas in straight sets (6-2, 6-2). He then advanced to play Morehead State's Giovanni Samaha, who Born defeated (6-3, 4-6, 6-4). Born will be back in action in the quarterfinals against Kentucky's Charles Minc.
Two other Blue Raiders were in action Friday. Junior Ettore Zito defeated Illinois State's Jakob Eisner (6-2, 6-3) before falling to Louisville's Jeffrey Brown (7-6 (1), 5-7, 6-3), while freshman Aaron Jumonville was ousted by Kentucky's Ryuji Hirooka (2-6, 6-2, 7-5) before beating Morehead State's Nick Mercer (6-2, 6-3) in the first round of the consolation bracket.
Born is back in action Saturday in both singles and doubles, in which he will team up with Zito. The Blue Raider pair earned a bye in the first round of doubles play.
