MT Concludes Season in Texas

DENTON, Texas - The Middle Tennessee cross country teams concluded their season at the Conference USA Championships at North Texas Saturday morning. The men's team finished fifth while the women finished seventh.
The Blue Raiders were lead by individual performances of Shadrack Matelong and Lucy Kapkiai, who both finished 12th in their respective races. Matelong finished the 8K race in 25:39.85. Following Matelong was the performance of Eliud Rutto and Alden Dixon who finished 22nd and 23rd with times of 26:18.74 and 26:20.35, respectively.
Silas Taiget and Keith Davis rounded out the Middle Tennessee men's squad scoring. Taiget placed 28th with a time of 26:23.16 while Davis ran the course in 27:55.01 for 74th.
On the women's side, Kapkiai's 12th place performance netted her a time of 17:46.35 in the 5K race. Jackline Kiprono finished a great freshman campaign, placing 14th with a time of 17:47.44.
Julia Kitevski was the next fastest runner to finish for MT, running the course in 18:24.91 for 33rd. Autumn Gipson and Tressanique Hampton placed 47th and 59th with times of 18:52.59 and 19:14.48, respectively.
