Raiders square off with Lady Govs Tuesday for second time in 2013

MT travels to Clarksville for match at Austin Peay

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - The Middle Tennessee volleyball team (14-10, 6-4 C-USA) treks up I-24 to Clarksville for its final non-conference match of 2013, a Tuesday night in-state clash at Austin Peay.

MT looks to rebound from a pair of losses last weekend to Tulsa and East Carolina. The Blue Raiders and Lady Govs square off for the second time this season, with MT taking the first meeting of the year in five sets at Alumni Memorial Gym on Sept. 7.

Scouting the Austin Peay Lady Govs
Austin Peay is 7-5 in OVC play, but has lost four of its last six matches in conference action. Tuesday marks the final home match of 2013 for the Lady Govs, who play their final four OVC matches on the road before their conference tournament. Austin Peay is 1-3 so far on its current homestand, defeating Tennessee State amidst losses to SIU Edwardsville, Eastern Illinois and Belmont.

Jada Stotts leads the Lady Govs with 3.70 kills per set. Cami Fields has tallied a team-leading 8.47 assists per set, while Stotts has posted a team-best 3.41 digs per set. Lauren Henderson leads Austin Peay with 0.91 blocks per set.

We Meet Again...
Tuesday is the second match of the season between the Blue Raiders and Lady Govs. The two teams squared off on Sept. 7 at Alumni Memorial Gym, with MT holding off Austin Peay for a five-set victory. The Blue Raiders took a 2-0 lead in the match before the Lady Govs charged back to force a fifth set. Middle Tennessee took the fifth set, 15-10, to win the match, 3-2.

Speaking Statistically
Through Sunday's matches, redshirt-sophomore Tyler Richardson is 12th in the nation individually (.430) and 53rd nationally in blocks per set (1.24). Both marks lead C-USA. Redshirt-junior Kendall Howard is ninth in Conference USA at 4.18 digs per set.

Full House
MT had a season-high crowd of 931 at the match vs. Louisville (Oct. 22), the most for a regular-season game at AMG since Oct. 20, 2008 vs. Western Kentucky. The total attendance was the second-highest in a match hosted by a C-USA team this season, trailing the impressive total of 1,265 to attend Tulsa's match at Charlotte on Oct. 18.

Pure Michigan
Redshirt-sophomore Tyler Richardson has turned up the heat entering C-USA play, hitting .451 through MT's first 10 conference matches while recording 1.36 blocks per set. Both marks lead C-USA.

Double Play
Sophomore Chelsea Ross has tallied 10 double-doubles on the season, all on a combination of double-digit kills and digs. Ross has tallied a double-double in four of her past five matches.

Acing the Test
The Blue Raiders lead C-USA with 1.46 aces per set in conference matches. Sophomores Chelsea Ross and Shelby Anderton, along with redshirt-junior Kendall Howard, are tied for sixth in C-USA during those matches with 0.31 aces per set.

Playing All the Hits
MT has hit .254 in Conference USA matches, good for second in C-USA. The Blue Raiders have two of the top four players in hitting percentage in C-USA matches: Redshirt-sophomore Tyler Richardson (1st, .451) and redshirt-junior Monet Marshall (4th, .352).
