32nd annual Salute to Armed Services/Veterans Day is Saturday

MURFREESBORO - Middle Tennessee will be hosting its 32nd Annual Salute to Armed Services and Veterans Day this Saturday at Floyd Stadium as the Blue Raiders take on conference foe FIU. Kickoff is set for 3 PM as the home team looks to become bowl eligible.
The Blue Raiders want you to join them in recognizing veterans and active military service personnel and their families throughout the day, including a special patriotic halftime salute to the U.S. Armed Services.
The day is filled will several events for veterans including:
11:00 AM - Silent Auction benefiting Fisherhouse inside Hall of Fame
11:30 AM - Veterans' Memorial Service
The day begins with a veterans' memorial service at the MT Veterans Memorial (in front of the Tom Jackson Building) at 11:30 AM.
1-2 PM - Pregame Picnic
Following the memorial service, a complimentary picnic will be held for veterans and active service families at the Rose and Emmett Kennon Hall of Fame Building at 1 PM. Tickets to the game will be provided at the picnic to veterans, service members and their families courtesy of State Farm and Barrett Firearms.
1 PM - Presentation of the Joe Nunley Award
At 1 PM, the Joe Nunley Award will be presented in a ceremony at the Kennon Hall of Fame. Joe Nunley Sr. was a U.S. Army World War II veteran who was an MT education professor starting in 1961 and retired as alumni director at the university in 1987. The senior Nunley died in 1993.
11 AM - 3 PM - Healthcare and Benefits Fair
Everyone is invited to visit the Healthcare and Benefits Fair near Floyd Stadium's Gate 3 from 11 AM until 3 PM. The fair is presented by the US Dept. of Veterans Affairs and the Tennessee Valley Healthcare System.
Anthem will be performed by ret. Ssgt. Joe Wilson Sr.
Game ball will be delivered by Sky Divers
Former Marine and current MT student-athlete Steven Rhodes will bring the team out of the tunnel Saturday with the American Flag
At halftime of the game, the Band of Blue conducts a special patriotic salute as veterans march across Horace Jones Field with other members of their service branches. Also, Kristy Lee Cook will sing God Bless the USA.
