MURFREESBORO - Middle Tennessee freshman defensive end Steven Rhodes will be featured on ESPN College Gameday Saturday as part of their Veterans Day coverage. His segment is scheduled to air at 8:30 AM Central.
Rhodes is a Marine who joined the Blue Raiders as a walk-on this past summer. Rhodes drew national attention in August when the story broke about the NCAA's refusal to grant him immediate eligibility to play this season because he participated in military-only recreational league football games at a Marine base in 2012.
About 24 hours later the NCAA granted Rhodes' waiver for full and immediate eligibility.
The first year player will also lead the Blue Raiders onto the field Saturday carrying the American Flag.
