MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Middle Tennessee head women's volleyball coach Matt Peck has announced the signing of LaVondria Covington to a National Letter of Intent. Covington will join the Blue Raiders for the fall of 2014.
Covington, nicknamed "Vonnie," is a 5-11 middle blocker from Farmington Hills, Mich. She will be the third member of the Blue Raiders from the Wolverine State, joining Tyler Richardson and Maya Miller. Covington played her high school volleyball for Harrison High School in Farmington Hills and her club ball for Instant Replay.
"Vonnie is a very dynamic, fast-twitch athlete who is a great fit for our style of play," said Peck. "She has a very fast arm and is very quick. We anticipate we can do a number of things with her."
Covington is the daughter of Tenisha and Clarence Marble and Lawrence Covington. She plans to study Communication Disorders at Middle Tennessee.
Coach Peck anticipates adding "one or two more players" for the fall of 2014, joining the full roster of 14 Blue Raiders returning from the 2013 squad.
