MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - The Middle Tennessee men's basketball program and head coach Kermit Davis announce the signing of junior college prospect Shaheed Davis to a National Letters of Intent Thursday afternoon.

Shaheed Davis is the sixth recruit to sign with the Blue Raiders for the 2014-15 class during the early signing period, which ends Nov. 20. Four of signees will be junior college transfers, while two will come straight from the high school ranks. Both of the high school players hail from Davis' home state of Mississippi. The four JuCo student-athletes are Shaheed Davis, Xavier Habersham, Darnell Harris and DeVanta Jones, while Jacob Ivory and Ed Simpson are both members of successful high school programs in Mississippi.

Shaheed Davis
Forward / 6-9 / Warren, Ohio / Eastern Florida State

Shaheed Davis averaged 9.3 points and five rounds a game earlier this season. He posted 24 points and 11 rebounds against Pasco-Hernando Community College Tuesday evening. He followed that performance, putting up 11 points and grabbing six boards Wednesday night against Florida State. Shaheed Davis recorded 12 points Nov. 7 against Lackawanna College and blocked four shots Nov. 2 against Webber International. He is known for being a very skilled player for his size. He is a 6-9 power forward with a 7-1 wingspan.

Kermit Davis on Shaheed Davis: "Shaheed committed to us verbally in June and he comes from a really good junior college program. Jeremy Shulman is his junior college coach and he's put in a lot of structure with Shaheed and I think Shaheed is really starting to benefit from that greatly. He's a 6-9, really skilled four-man (playing the four position) that can really play on the perimeter, can shoot, can drive it. He just needs to add some strength, but Shaheed is going to have a fantastic year for (Shulman). Again, we just think he is a really talented player and will come in and play right away."

The early signing period opened Wednesday, Nov. 13 and will close Wednesday, Nov. 20.
